In my dark and distant past I was employed in software development and loved the creative freedom I enjoyed in developing solutions. In recent years however my employed role has taken me away from the development of ‘hands-on/nuts & bolts’ technological solutions – especially in the area of Internet information presentation and organisation – so I built a multimedia Web site which included a blog, forums, video and audio streaming etc. just to understand how it all worked.
Hobbies over the years have included music production, photography, film shooting and editing and writing. I particularly enjoy writing and find it therapeutic. I found that all of these attributes had a place in the blog format.
I have therefore decided to focus in on the elements that held most enjoyment for me and focus on the blog.
Some of the blog entries here relate to very personal subject matter – such as my aging parents, and the ongoing struggles and stresses in the face of their declining health. I include these sometimes very personal observations in the hope that anyone that reads them that may be in similar circumstances, can hopefully take some comfort that what they are going through is not personal. That last statement may sound ridiculous but it is amazing how many of us are struggling along in similar circumstances and believe our situations to be unique. We are, but our circumstances are not! And although the fact that thousands or even millions of people may be sharing your circumstance or experience does not share your burden – it does however put your situation in perspective, and therefore provide some awareness that this isn’t personal and you are not alone.
This site is therefore a creative outlet – a place where I can share with friends, family and anyone else that has a passing interest my musings and observations.
My professional role involves overseeing the run-time management of global application systems, and involves a great deal of travel. The job is a blessing and has enabled me to work with wonderful people, and see much of the world I would never have seen otherwise. I haven’t been bored for more than twenty years!
